"The Match"

The Match is a day in which all 4th year medical students nationally find out where they will be doing their residencies.  Few know prior to this date, as we are required to rank our choices (among places we interviewed at) and the hospital residency programs rank all their interviewees.  A computer program then essentially processes all lists nationally at the same time and gives medical students their highest ranking program that was interested in them.

You rank where you want to go, but anything on the rank list is a possibility, and you may not get your first choice, so it is a bit nerve racking opening that letter...

Opening the letter...  GOT MY FIRST RANK!! YEAH!  I will be doing my residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
